Medicare AEP Leads: Timing, Targeting and Follow-Up

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7. September is not AEP itself. It is the preparation window when agents should confirm certifications, carrier readiness, territories, technology and follow-up capacity.

Know the AEP calendar

AEP runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. During that period, eligible Medicare consumers can make certain plan changes for coverage beginning January 1.

Agents should verify current CMS guidance, carrier requirements and plan-year materials before marketing or presenting options. RiseGen content is operational guidance, not a substitute for CMS, carrier or legal requirements.

Prepare before lead volume arrives

Confirm licensing, annual certifications, carrier appointments, quoting access, phone capacity and calendar availability. A lead campaign cannot rescue an operation that is not ready to answer and follow up.

Build message templates, disposition definitions and appointment workflows before the busiest weeks. The goal is to remove avoidable friction once consumer inquiries begin.

Choose targeting that matches capacity

Medicare campaigns can serve county or statewide strategies depending on the program, territory and agent model. Local face-to-face agents should protect drive time, while telesales teams may benefit from broader licensed coverage.

Do not target more geography than the team can service responsibly. A large campaign with delayed follow-up can waste more opportunity than a smaller campaign worked well.

Treat compliance as part of performance

Medicare marketing is regulated. Agents must use approved materials and follow applicable CMS, carrier, consent, scope-of-appointment and communication requirements.

Compliant operations also improve clarity for consumers. Identify who is contacting them, why, and what the next step involves. Avoid vague or misleading messages.

Measure the complete AEP funnel

Track delivery, attempts, contacts, appointments, enrollments and effective policies. Separate AEP performance from other enrollment periods and lead types so the economics remain understandable.

RiseGen currently offers Medicare DSNP and Turning 65 lead programs alongside Final Expense. Availability, pricing and targeting should be confirmed before an order is placed.
